First Day Butterflies (Mine)

I admit it, I miss the kids a little.

Today was the first day of school.

I scooted out a 3rd grader and a sixth grader out of the house into the world of education.

Both, still half-asleep, but excited nonetheless.

Me, I'm okay.

My son has a class full of his best buddies, a great teacher and a familiar school.

DQ, not so much.

She is at a new school, middle school!

Not so familiar faces, although she knows a couple (like 3) people.

New schedule, new teacher, new classes (welcome to real P.E. where it's a mandated jr. high subject and not just dodgeball and monkey bars).

So i'm nervous.

For her.

The usual, hoping she fits in, makes friends, is happy.

She doesn't need me to worry, but I do.

Middle school is different, kids are different, life changes for girls during these years (if you get my drift...).

For once the butterflies in my stomach are nerves rather than acid.

2 hours until pick up.

AWW I am getting really sad I have a 4th grader and Kindergartner this year. So it will be me and little miss all alone and then next year me...by myself...ahhh I think I shall go cry again.

I have to admit, I am NOT looking forward to those days. Yes, I have boys so I don't feel like it will be as "tough" as it is on girls...I'm sure she will make TONS of friends, do great in school and it will be a breeze...but a MOM JEN has to worry...doesn't she?

Can't wait to hear about the day!

Awwww - you'll get thru it and so will they :-) **hugs** My eldest goes to first grade in 2 weeks and I'm already dreading it. She only did half day kindergarten last year, so this will be her first "full" day at school!

Oh, I hope they both had a good day, but especially your girl! That is such a big transition! Keeping her in my thoughts... (and Mom too!) :)

I'm not a softy. I'm not a drop of lingerer. My kids are entering Kindergarten & 5th. I've never really felt sad that they were leaving me, maybe because they always freaking come back? LOL. But, I'll share with you, the year before last, my 16 year old sister came to live with us for a while. I almost threw up when I dropped her off in front of the HS in a town she didn't know a sole in for her first day of 11th grade. It was a weird feeling and took me a while to realize it was anxiety for her. They all survive it though, one way or another, don't they? :-)
