My Kids are Taller than Me Now (insert ugly cry here)

Who are these people?

I mean who stole my babies and replaced them with big kids?

Only because she's leaning toward the camera does DQ look taller than My Boy.  In fact they are now the same height.

The very height that is 2 inches taller than their mom.

UM WHAT?

Not acceptable.

I'm thinking of giving K coffee for the rest of her life so I can remain taller than one child!

The kids hit another milestone too, one at each level of school, elementary, jr high, and second year high school.

That means big brother isn't walking little sister to my car anymore after school.

Which means the dreaded school pickup line.

Boo.

In that line today I saw cops stopping stupid people doing stupid car pickup line stuff.

I saw people not holding kids' hands walking through the parking lot not around it.

I saw people getting out of their cars to let their kids in while parked in front of the sign that says "DON'T GET OUT OF YOUR CAR!"

It stresses me out.

As I got closer to picking up my baby I scanned the teachers on that dreadful pickup/car line yard duty.

DQ's first grade teacher, My Boy's 3rd and 5th grade instructors....

I got melancholy that they both are too old for K-6 and that little K is my last baby to go to the very school I attended Kindgergarten in.

I got that twingey feeling like I was going to cry.

Time is moving too fast.

I got a call from the high school that my Sophomore can take the practice SAT this year.

Because next year she will start applying to college.

*pulling the needle off a record sound*

College.

That's where I met my now husband.

The father of the kids in that photo up there.

I hear my son is talking about girls.

And not tattling-on-his-sisters-type talking.

K is reading Junie B Jones books to herself and laughing just like her sister did just yesterday a few years ago.

I'm dying my hair like every four weeks now.

They're growing up.

And, I'm growing....grey.

Two taller than you? Yeah, that's a hard one to take. I think I have a while for that one, but it's coming. I hope all 3 have a wonderful new year and I hope we meet for lunch more often to commiserate!

I know how it feels when you have kids that no longer look up to you but now look down to you. Its kind of amusing when you have kids as tall as giraffes! lol

I thought my son was going to be short, but he is 6' 3 inches. He is taller than me! My daughter is taller than me, and they grow up so fast!

My mom was only 5' tall so I outgrew her when I was 11 years old. Then I started turning grey in my early 20's.

My daughter is all gone up with five children of her own. As I watch my grandchildren grow up I could almost cry. I have one that is going to be in 8th grade, one is in 7th and I have three left in grade school and it was only yesterday I was changing their diapers. Time just goes too fast....

Yes, I hate that they grow up so fast. Thankfully, my son is a long way away from outgrowing me!

Most of my kids are taller than their mom as well. She however is only 4'10" so it doesn't take much to be taller than her. I have my youngest who I think will be short like her. So don't feel bad, you are not alone on this one.

I should write a book called "Mom and Dad: There is Life After Your Child Goes to College" or something like that. My son is in his last semester. Yep, the time flew by and I find myself crying over old photos sometimes and only my hairdresser may have some idea what my real hair color is other than grey. I weigh a little more and I wear bifocals. Early to bed and early to rise with a couple of trips to the bathroom thrown in. BUT, though I miss my son terribly it's amazing how clean my house stays, the dishwasher and the washing machine run less. Etc, etc. And I actually have time to do the things I love. I talk to my son often and see him as much as I can and of course his room will always be his room. So I promise things will be okay.
