Frick and Frack, This and That
------------------------------------------------
SIL and I are planning a Kid's (family) Halloween Party. If you were a parent of a child invited, what date would you prefer? Please answer the poll in my right sidebar, thanks! ;)
------------------------------------------------
I helped out in DQ's classroom yesterday.
I also got to grade 5th grade math homework (AT HOME) and that was an eye-opener. I'm so glad Hubs and I are good about checking homework and school work with DQ and My Boy. I forget how much is expected and how papers can get F's just for not reading the problems closely.
We have a rule with DQ's dance
-------------------------------------------------
Met with the speech teacher for My Boy's evaluation and IEP for the year. I have to say i'm not excited that he hasn't lost his two top teeth yet and we've worked 2 years already with his lisp. 1 step forward, two back.
Luckily though, she is a fantastic person with tons of love and support for her students. My Boy is very lucky to see her twice a week.
-------------------------------------------------
Here are some possible Halloween Costumes for the kids....
DQ mentioned she wanted to be a witch...of course the boots/leg warmers(?)/broom are all sold separately...
Indy Jones....everyone and their brother is going to be him this year. My 2 nephews included. AND, whip, sword and fanny pouch sold separately. UG.
K would be so cute as her favorite "June" from Little Einsteins but the costume is $45 for the silly hair-helmet-like-Dora thing, a not so cute dress, and silly RED shoes. Bleh, this is a much cuter ballerina. Heck she could just wear DQ's old recital costume!

Thanks for all the comments on my hair...

I was tagged a few
I thought that I had done some form of it before and I found THIS post and realize it was for 10 Random Facts about me.
Totally different.
Apparently quirky and random are two different things. Sorry.
Okay, so here are FOUR, I just couldn't narrow down the million others to two
1. I (we) don't freeze meat, then defrost eat prior to eating. Oddly enough my brother and I remember some sort of food-poisoning incident subconsciously because he doesn't either. Meat has to be fresh in our refrig. for one or two days prior to cooking. We don't stockpile meat from Costco or the store EVER. Probably why we go to the store 3 times a week.
2. I'm not the only one that does it either, but when I look through a magazine at the store, I always put it back and take another one to buy from the back of the rack. I can't take the one that was already touched, even if only by me.
3. I tip the girls at the Java Hut 50% sometimes. I don't know why, but my caffeine frenzy sweeps all sense out of my brain and I leave $1 bills in their cup almost every time.
4. I hate showering when Hubby isn't home. If it's just K and I is the worst. She loves to pull the curtains open to see me and then water gets everywhere, or she'll sit in the bathroom screaming "cookie" "play people with you" or "udder womb[other room]" while i'm gritting my teeth. If the older kids are home, inevitably DQ makes herself "conditionally in charge" and arguing and bickering ensue. Lovely, relaxing. NOT.

OOH, I have a number 5 for the Quirks. I constantly change my blog design. I wasn't digging the brown from before, so I lightened up a bit and brought back and oldie but goodie header I made.
I HAD to clean up my sidebars, I was annoyed by them. I made a hand-full of buttons that all link to the good stuff I had before. Blog buttons, memes, networking sites, I love them all and won't part with them. They're only a click away.

I love coming over and seeing the different blog designs. So fun!
As for a $45 Halloween costume? For a kid? Seriously?

There's a lot I could comment on, but since I have class in the morning, and yours is the only blog I'm reading tonight (don't you feel special)--I'm going to try to keep this short.
I already said it, but it deserves another mention: I love the new blog design! And header. And re-done buttons for everything! I'm totally snagging the flowery CTT button. Love it!
I can't believe it's time to think about Halloween already! GAH! Wasn't it just 4th of July? What happened to my summer? so.not.fair.
Love the possible costumes. I remember my parents doing the "UGH WHY ARE THESE ALL SOLD SEPARATELY AND SO DARNED EXPENSIVE?!?" thing. No fun. For how cheap most of them are, they should lower the stinkin' price! LORDY.
I'm sure DQ's teacher really appreciates having your help with the class and the grading! I can't imagine being a teacher. So much work; so little pay. It's horrible that we as a nation don't value our teachers more :(
Nice post. I often enjoy the jumbled up ones more then the 'regular' ones! (Not just yours, but everyone's.)
Have a great weekend Jen!

Love the costumes. The little ballerina costume is adorable. We still don't know what we're doing for Halloween, although I've heard my oldest say she wants to be a cheerleader. Who knows.

I love the new look! And I voted for oct 25, simply because I would STILL have to take my brats trick or treating and they are 12 and 13... What is up with THAT? Actually, I did it too, so I'm just gripin' cuz I'm so good at it. And how funny is the cheek comment? Not true, you are a DOLL!!
August 29, 2008 at 6:39 AM
Oh wow...Halloween costumes! You're blowing my mind! Those are cute choices though! I bet I'll have an Indiana Jones, too!
August 29, 2008 at 6:39 AM
I do the same thing with my blog! I'm always moving things around...
I did the same with my MySpace page, too....
and if I could, I'd do it with the furniture in my house :P
August 29, 2008 at 6:47 AM
Love the costumes! Boy, I've really got to start thinking about Halloween! Sorry to hear about your IEP - but your son will bounce back - they always do! Have a great weekend!
August 29, 2008 at 6:48 AM
J, in regards to frozen meat..that may have been true about your bro before we got married, but it isn't the case anymore. We always buy and freeze meat. I would slit my throat if I had to go to the store 3x a week...either that or have a mental breakdown :)
August 29, 2008 at 7:20 AM
Yeah, no kidding about the "changing blog"...I guest posted about it being all "flowery" then by the time it was up the flowers were gone! :) Well, you're the graphic artist - you need constant visual stimulation.
August 29, 2008 at 7:21 AM
love the random thoughts- it's usually how my head works- can't wait to see final picks for halloween costumes!
August 29, 2008 at 7:44 AM
So just one question:
How did you make your header? I am still tyring to decide how I want my page to look, but I can't figure out how to make really cool headers. Do you have a special site/program/HTML knowledge? I thought about making one in Photoshop, then uploading it to the web, I need to figure out what I want first...

First, I'm glad you appreciate your son's speech teacher. Speech teachers are in high demand all over the country, and we have a shortage in our area. The one at our school has 35 kids on her caseload and gets to see them once per week for 10 minutes, if they are lucky.
That tip thing? As far as I'm concerned, a tip less than a dollar for anything is an insult, so you are very kind. If you're going to tip, go all out, I say.
August 29, 2008 at 8:31 AM
P.S. I added your link to my post today...

August 29, 2008 at 9:47 AM
I love the new blog design, btw.

I love the witches outfit! Now I have to take a break from my daily blog read to go look for Halloween costumes for my kids! Fun! Maybe I will use that as a post myself....humm...we'll see!
August 29, 2008 at 11:21 AM
That ballerina one is sooo cute!
August 29, 2008 at 12:07 PM
For the teenager in this house the rule is B's for keys. No driving if her grades fall. My youngest has an IEP for speech as well. She has a lisp that is adorable, but not very helpful in the spelling dept.
August 29, 2008 at 1:52 PM
Love the new blog design! I wish I had the ability and talent to just switch up my look whenever I felt like it! Cute halloween costumes! So excited its almost time for Halloween!
August 29, 2008 at 3:18 PM
My oldest does the same thing to me in the shower! She'll bust open the door, march in and either sit on her step-stool in front of the sink talking about her puzzles, her train set, and going to the library with daddy or she'll pry open the curtain (on the side with the waterworks, of course) and reach in and splash herself, thus splashing the whole. damn. bathroom.
August 29, 2008 at 6:05 PM
2 more things:
1 - just sawyour header work over at someone else's blog (damn-can't remember who - it was red and she mentioned you) Beautiful work!
2 - Why oh why aren't you on Twitter with the rest of us twits?
August 29, 2008 at 8:02 PM

August 29, 2008 at 8:53 PM
I can't believe it is already time to start thinking of Halloween costumes! I was at the store today and they already had the candy out, really???
I tip big at the coffee place too, they help me stay semi sane by making my coffee, they deserve it! LOL
August 29, 2008 at 11:11 PM
Halloween? Ack. I so can't think about Oct yet.
August 30, 2008 at 10:01 AM
You know, I got so lost in your quirks, I forgot what I was going to say. Hang on....Oh, right, costumes! Disney store went out of business here, so got Priss the Minnie Mouse dress on the cheap. Minnie is her hero!
And can't you just buy the boots & broom & hate and make the dress? Just wondering.
August 30, 2008 at 6:38 PM
Those costumes are adorable! I especially like the witch.
Jarod goes out every year with his friends but DH wants to take the 3 little ones this year for the first time...I guess I will have to get 3 little costumes!! :D
