K's Creepy-Smart

I added the new Kanye West song to my playlist a few weeks back.

The day before I did that, the video premiered on the Ellen show and K and I were watching.

Flash forward to this morning, the song starts on my blog and K comes running into the room.

"TV nong [song] on, your show!"

She repeated this like 137 times before I deciphered it and said, oh my goodness she remembered that 4+ minutes of song to recognize it now.

Mommy's show Ellen, who plays Dori?
YES!
You heard this song there when we watched it?
YES!!
K you are so smart to remember that.
YES it is! [proud, hands on hips]

Then again, a few days ago we heard Pachabel's Canon on a commercial. You know the song from weddings??

Well, K loves watching the Little Einsteins and she blurted out,

PatPat[the rocket] nong, on MY SHOW!
Did you hear this song on Little Einsteins?
YES!
You can really recognize music can't you?
YES, my moogzik!

Either I'm raising a musically aware child, OR we watch too much TV.

But, she's so smart!! Creepy-smart.

I think little kids have an extra great aptitude for this kind of thing. I still remember every single song I learned as a little girl, and where I learned it. And the lyrics. My daughters are the same way. They learned to speak Hawaiian from watching Lilo and Stitch, for pete's sake. I couldn't do that now if i tried.

It's CRAZY the amount of things they can remember...and the time frame at which they decide to LET YOU KNOW they remember! Just wait...she'll amaze you even more as time goes on. :)

TOO Cute! Did my first degree in music (vocal performance), so I love watching my own children as they reaction to various music we listen to. Lately my daughter is hollering that she wants to "only listen only to U2 or Duran Duran." I see that her daddy (who was also a music major) has been working on her. LOL

Music from all sources GOOD! ;)
(Maybe put an instrument or two in hand? A visit to Guitar Center or Sam Ash just to "play" was always (and still is) very popular with our two.

My Riley loves music! He knows all sorts of songs and can even carry a tune! I think its amazing! Maybe some kids react more to music than others? But of course he watches WAY to much TV too.
