Trying My Patience
I hate bad customer service!Went to the Colonels the other night.
You know the place.
Well, 30 minutes we waited in the restaurant for our food.
"We don't have enough chicken, it will be a little bit."
Well after cooking the chicken for 30 minutes we get,
"We only have grilled legs, not original recipe."
Really, you're telling us now after you had us wait for 30 minutes.
Never mind it's nearing 8pm and I have 3 kids and a cousin that aren't exactly quietly waiting.
Never trying grilled, we agreed and it was okay.
I had chicken strips that were a tad too moist (grossly dripping).
I wanted to gag, but I held back and cleansed my palate with stick-to-your-ribs mashed potatoes.
I hate bad dinners on top of bad service.
Then I recently got this info in my email inbox...
Following up on information we received from our guests, we visited KFC’s website and found some interesting ingredients in KFC’s new “grilled” chicken marinade-- namely Beef Powder and Rendered Beef Fat.Now there's one 15 miles away, so I can try it out. We’ve released a fun new online video to express our “beef” with KFC. Check it out at: www.beefychicken.com.
You certainly won’t find any beef in El Pollo Loco’s citrus-marinated, flame-grilled chicken. Feel free to pass along to your followers the following link for a coupon for a FREE 2-piece meal at El Pollo Loco with the purchase of any 2, 3, or 4 piece meal: http://www.elpolloloco.com/

The service has GOT to be better.

Damn you! I actually like the KFC grilled chicken. But, then again, the one time I tried it, I didn't have to wait for it, pay for it, AND it was the first solid meal I'd had in days.....

Beef powder???? As in a beef flavored ramen noodle package?? That's kinda gross, don't you think???? Unless it's with the noodles, then it's awesome!

Beef powder, not sure about that! The KFC near our new house has good service and good grilled chicken. The KFC in CO has horrible service.

Beefy Chicken, it's what's for dinner.
June 12, 2009 at 2:17 PM
Um...eww. wow.
That would drive me nuts too. I had a bit of an experience at a "children's salon" today. Let's just say I'll be taking the kids to my regular place in the future.

Dear heaven. No excuse. For the service. For the beef powder. For no El Pollo Locos in VA.
The power of the blog is an amazing thing though...rest assured I'll not try the grilled chicken....and not because of the beef. Dislike such heinous service...
Go you, Mom Jen! :)

"We don't have enough chicken?"
Did the guy say that with a straight face?
Only Chicken Express around here.
Yeah, not so much.
June 12, 2009 at 3:34 PM
That's horrible. You should enevr have to wait 30 minutes for 'fast food'

I gave up on KFC with the whole Mother's Day fiasco- El Pollo Loco took the KFC coupon on Mother's Day (that KFC wouldn't) and we had great service and 4 free meals. Love El Pollo Loco and I love their videos! Thanks for sharing!

I was wondering what prompted that.
Gross..I'm glad I don't like KFC...this adds even more reason.
And Pollo Loco is delish..worth the drive, especially if you have to wait 30 at the other place.

I was all excited to try the grilled chicken.. until I tasted it. Then I thought it tasted pretty bland. Now I know why!
that's disgusting. Thanks for the heads up!

Just saying "Beef Powder" makes me gag. Just sayin'.
June 12, 2009 at 6:42 PM
Oh man....that is SO WRONG on so many levels!
June 12, 2009 at 7:11 PM
ew for beef powder being on chicken...
I wish there was an el pollo loco here in NY.

I don't think I would ever tried the grilled anyway. It looks so fake and gross. If I want grilled, I know how to light up my grill at home!

Oh my - I think you still have time to complain! There is no excuse good enough that you and your family had to wait that long for'fast food'...NO way!
June 12, 2009 at 7:46 PM
Holy cow, that is just gross!
June 12, 2009 at 7:54 PM
i went to boston market once and they had completely run out of chicken! :(
they should really openly let ppl know there are beef products in the chicken! not cool.
June 13, 2009 at 3:09 AM
well for me Jen...lol...when a red flag went up for having to wait and then for the other excuses, I would have left!
if the service is that bad the food will be worse.
that is just me!

It's posts like these that make one appreciate why people become vegetarians.

How does KFC run out of chicken? That would be like McDonalds not having burgers.
June 13, 2009 at 12:40 PM
we like El Pollo Loco...and that (sadly) is rather hit or miss as well.
sometimes they waaaay overcook their chicken and their service is just as sucky.
sorry ;0

We tried the grilled chicken once, liked it okay, but non need to worry about beefy chicken here in PA, as the only local, as in close enough I would want to drive there to pick up a bucket, KFC closed down! We will get our chicken at Boston Market, Tara has proclaimed that her new favorite (more for the stick to your ribs mashed potatoes I think!)
June 14, 2009 at 7:17 AM
Ugh. Won't be trying that any time soon!
June 14, 2009 at 7:35 AM
UGH! I hate bad service at a restaurant...especially having to wait an ungodly amount of time! I don't visit KFC too often, but I certainly will not be getting the grilled chicken.
June 14, 2009 at 1:23 PM
another reason for me to skip KFC... bad customer service is enough to send me over the edge... and the whole idea of that place makes me want to hurl!
June 15, 2009 at 5:22 PM
bad customer service drives me batty! I was a customer service manager for years and so now I judge everyone! lol I live in the land of terrible customer service--the ppl at Walmart barely make eye contact...
