Can I Get a Prescription for That?

My drug cocktail, that is.

Before you refer me to rehab, just know i'm joking.

Sort of.

But, today despite my nerves, being freezing cold in the surgery center, and my over-active stressed out mind, my EGD went swimmingly after they put some nice meds in my IV.

Signing the paperwork I hear, "Dr.Doingmyprocedure please head to Pre-Op" and I got all antsy.

He's here. I'm here. It's go time!

Taking me back and giving me that little hairnet-scrubs hat, i'm lying on a gurney trying to do some relaxation techniques.

Blood pressure machine squeezes the heck out of my arm, and I'm asked to repeat my name, birthdate and surgeon like 10 times.

Um, the drugs aren't in me yet, I'm totally aware thank you.

First attempt for my IV goes bad..my arm is black and blue, I obviously bruise like a peach.

Thank you for those slipper socks ("you get to keep these!" I'm sure for a price!), it's like 30 degrees in pre-op.

Wheeled down the hall, I'm dizzy from not having my glasses on and I enter a room full of TVs, tubes, and machines.

Oxygen in my nose makes my heart race.

One squirt of the throat-numbing meds make me gag. I'm promised the next two will come after my sedatives.

I see the nurse administer in my IV and I count...I vaguely remember getting to 4.

Waking up I see K and Hubby talking to my nurse and I'm being released.

Wow. That's some good stuff.

Short of a sore throat and being super nappy....we wait for the results...always the hardest part.

I have had that done before and so has B. No fun! At least the IV sedation has an amnesia effect. I hope the results come quickly.

I had something similar to this done. Except it was a TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram) and I wasn't fortunate enough to be put asleep for the procedure! I was 17 at the time and much much smaller than I am now so they didn't give me as much versed as I needed leaving me traumatized (I can still see that doctor twisting and turning this huge hose connected to a camera that was down my throat...eek!) and in a ridiculous amount of pain.

So glad to hear that yours went better! I hope you get good results soon! And that your family takes amazing care of you!!
