He Might Stop Me from Reading Online

I'll be the first to admit that I've taken the kids to the doctor, or have seen the doctor myself and the verdict has been...

--oh it's just a cold
--heatrash-don't dress him/her so warm
--just a bruise
--no you're not crazy
--stubbed toe
--sore throat from yelling too much

You know...I overreact sometimes.

But, my paranoia is not always way off.

Like this time, I actually think my husband wanted to tell me I was right.

Well. He never did use the words but by making a follow-up appointment at the dr. that TOTALLY meant I was right.

Hubby was diagnosed with pneumonia in one lung 1 week, one day ago.

Today, he says he feels better, but his cough and wheeze tell me otherwise.

His wheeze sounds like a boiling pot and hasn't changed over this last week.

So I called him today at work and here's how it went...

Me: I just read online that someone famous died from fluid in his lungs.
Him: Oh yeah.
Me: What if you have fluid in your lungs?
Me: You know people DIE of pneumonia.
Me: You never hear of people dying from an ear infection or pinkeye.
Him: I see where you're going with this.
Him: (doing that wheeze thing)
Me: That doesn't sound better.
Him: Okay, I'll call and make a follow-up appointment.

5 minutes later
Him: I'm going in after work.
Me: Thank you.
Him: hangs up
Me: (still talking) See I'm totally right about this, you finally believe i'm not crazy-paranoid, a follow-up is totally necessary when we're talking pneumonia and ......Hello?!

So maybe they'll do an x-ray, maybe they'll say he's doing a lot better. Maybe they'll change his Rx. Hopefully he's not worse.

Any which way, we'll know what's up and how to proceed and sometimes that reassurance can make you feel so much better.

**Update, x-rays were done and were clear, although there was an antibiotic change. Not 100% better, but not worse!!**

I think this post should be required reading for husbands everywhere. At least for MINE anyhow! Of course, there was that one time, I thought he had Ebola virus and it was JUST a bloody nose. Oh well.

Hope your hubby feels better soon!

So nice when they finally admit you're correct.

And then I get worried, because jeez, he must really be feeling like crap.

I hope the visit brings answers!!

I had pneumonia in one lung a year ago August. I did not feel better until the end of September. I even had a CT Scan done 3 weeks after being released from the hospital. I missed 33 days of work. Tell him to not be a superman and his body needs the rest to get better. I tried to do too much around the house and prolonged everything.

my boss used to come in sick, he once gave me the FLU, which passed to my hubs and kids- to which became a pneumonia in my youngest and we spent 5 days in the pediatric hospt, 12/21-12/26..I still hate that fucker.

I'm bad in the opposite way. I figure if its a virus then all they're going to tell me is motrin and fluids I can figure that out for less than a co-pay and a 3 hour wait. My hubby is the one saying "shouldn't you take them in??" Hope your man gets well soon!

Kinda takes the wind out of your sails for being right doesn't it?
    I hope he mends quickly.

When I had it I drank nothing but peppermint tea and that disgusting cough syrup and I added echinacea every time I took a med. I slept for a whole entire weekend. Diagnosed on a Thursday and went in for a follow up x ray the following Tues and was clear. My Dr was impressed with his abilities to cure the sick....I think it was the added echinacea and tea!

I sure hope he feels better soon, everywhere I look there's someone sick. My husband is the same way...I can tell him for a week that something is wrong, but he doesn't listen until it gets real bad. Hope you manage to keep from getting what he has, that's the hardest part for me since he and our children like to pass things back and forth.

I never knew how serious pneumonia could be until I had it myself in 2007 (one month post partum with the twins) and ended up in the hospital for 10 days. Not something to mess with! I am glad to hear his xray is clear and he's doing better. :)

Hey... it's better to be safe than sorry!!

Good on him for actually going in... Just think, Murphy's Law would have been that he'd get sicker if he DIDN'T go in!
