I Lost a Tooth!
April Fools!I do have this recurring nightmare that my teeth are loose and then I look in the mirror and have a big 'ol GAP staring back at me.
So I forget how exciting it is to be a kid and have the relief in knowing something WILL grow back when you do lose a tooth.
First the wiggle gets you all wild. Yeah! Dude! It'll be out anytime now!
But in reality, it takes like months, because those little buggers loosen up then lock back in. It's a freaky true story!
But then there's blood. Blood always means the end is near.
Then you sit in the bathroom and work magic anyway you can.
Sawing floss between that last piece of skin and your gums.
Or grab a washcloth and PULL.
More wiggling and pushing with your tongue.
Then after telling the kid to just YANK it out so the tooth fairy can get her flight plan in order, it finally happens!
Cash in your pocket.
Then DQ, she who doesn't like to be ignored, pops out a tooth after like 15 minutes of being loose over the weekend. BAM, money.
Today, My Boy pulls out a tooth from his pocket after school. Boom. Who's next?
Gawd forbid, not me.
K? Sweet thing she says, "when me gets bidder, my toofs come out," cute huh?
She also says, "when me gets bidder, me have doze stickuz [maxi pads]." Don't wish for that...ugh.
Hope the economy isn't affecting good 'ole T.F. She's working over-time at our house.
And at this rate, My Boy will be a real-life Jack-O-Lantern by Halloween. A rich one.

Awww tres cute!

Tell me the tooth, I-I mean truth, how much does the Toothfairy pay these days for a chunk o' the ivory? Be wary. There are imposters out there who will leave less under the pillow, then sell the "goods" for more to piano factories, so they can turn a profit. No fooling, even though it's the day for it!

Cute pics! I hope the tooth fairy's investments haven't taken as hard of a hit as our 401(k), or she won't be able to pay out.

what remarkable pictography! way to capture a milestone, love it!

The tooth fairy is definitely going to be busy with your house over the next couple years.
I know if you dream about all of your teeth crumbling it means you are under stress..but I don't know about just losing one!

Ok, your picture had me cracking up and then your commentating on the pictures and then your daughters comment about stickerz. I am cracking up so hard.
Thanks for the laugh!

My 6 year old has been so upset recently because he's not losing his teeth. All of his classmates have lost at least one...his aren't even wiggly yet.
Your kids are so adorable!

That was a great photo story! I just had my kids complaining to me about the tooth fairy's forgetfulness. There are lots of teeth floating around our house!
April 1, 2009 at 6:30 AM
I am sooo not looking forward to this! Especially in light of how much money we've spent trying to keep them in!
April 1, 2009 at 6:32 AM

April 1, 2009 at 7:09 AM
I have that NIGHTMARE too....only in mine I run around freaking out showing people the blood and the gap and everyone ignores me! I read that it is vanity, that dreaming of teeth falling out is fear of getting older...
April 1, 2009 at 7:47 AM
My 7 year old has already lost 8 teeth and is an old pro at getting them out!
I have dreams that I lose all of my teeth. That I wake up with a mouth full of teeth (not attached to my gums). I wonder what that means.

I am seeing dental school in his bright future. I heard the tooth fairy is still rocking it across the country. B. Madoff did not get to him.

April 1, 2009 at 2:03 PM
I have a recurring nightmare that I keep losing my teeth too! Like hundreds of them keep popping out of my mouth. . .bizzare!
What if the tooth fairy paid me for each one of those????

April 1, 2009 at 2:37 PM
I stopped wearing my retainer and now my big ole gap is coming back full force! Hopefully it won't get that bad though, lol.
April 1, 2009 at 3:35 PM
The tooth fairy is paying out at an exorbitant rate, I hear. I got a measly dime.
April 1, 2009 at 4:16 PM
these are great photos!
April 1, 2009 at 4:39 PM
ha ha ha! that is such a cute post! BUT I did hear once, after telling someone about how I always dreamt of my teeth falling or getting pulled out that it means that you are stressed out about money! It seems to be true! Whenever i'm financialy stressed I dream about my teeth rotting/getting pulled/ or falling out! :S *blech*
Your kids are adorable, and this blog is positively priceless!
April 1, 2009 at 4:44 PM
Got me! And I forgot the crazy kid stages when their teeth are falling out.
April 1, 2009 at 5:22 PM
I sure hope you don't lose any teeth next! I love shot of your son right after he gets the tooth out!
April 1, 2009 at 5:24 PM
OMG - I can't type for the tears in my eyes - that last picture cracked me up!! I HAVE to show these to my girl, she STILL has that tooth dangling....she can see how brave your boy is!! Thanks for the incentive!
April 1, 2009 at 6:19 PM
Man, lemme tell you, with two 7 year olds who sleep in loft beds, the tooth fairy REALLY appreciates the toofuses left on the dresser (near the window so she can get in and out easily with her shiny quarters...which apparently mean MUCH more to our two than the financially more beneficial, but less attractive, paper currency counterpart.
Your kids are so precious. Sorry I've been irregular in commenting...hope you all are well...and have a full mouth of teeth. ;)
April 1, 2009 at 7:18 PM
Over February break the good old tooth fairy came to our house 3 times. At least she didn't forget. She's been known to do that in the past. LOL!
April 1, 2009 at 8:30 PM
We're in the tooth loss stage as well.
The youngin' at my house says "when I get bigger, I get a great big hairy vagina too!"
Stickaz and pubes........ah.
April 1, 2009 at 10:00 PM

So cute and I remember the days so well. But one night the tooth fairy fell asleep and didn't put money under the pillow. UGH!! Trying explaining that one!
