Better Than the Daddy/Daughter Dance

You know DQ (dancing queen, my oldest daughter) is gearing up for her annual recital.

She's yet to invite her father to participate in the Daddy/Daughter dance.

Each year dancers are allowed to invite their dad/grandpa/brother/uncle/favorite male to perform in one of the night's biggest hits.

DQ knows her dads skills.

Or lack, thereof.

So she, as usual hasn't asked him.

He's okay with it.

I was hoping for a change, but I'm not pushing the topic further.

Instead, she's totally enamoured in the fact that dad rides the cool/scary rides with her at the Boardwalk!

Like the Double Shot.

EEEP!

Riders are launched skywards at more than 3 G's to a breathtaking view of the California Coast and then experience the weightlessness of negative G forces as they are shot back down for the ultimate thrill!
...the Rock-O-Plane, which despite hubby knocking his head in the cage, they managed to spin up-side down!

...and of course, the Tsunami. With bright lights and sizzling sounds, the TSUNAMI is a rumbling, swirling voyage circling full speed ahead - then full speed backwards!

Yep, Hubby is quite the trooper, DQ is lucky to have her adventure pal!

Dancing, schmancing.

After taking his Dramamine, he's a rockstar on all the rides.

Honestly, I feel nauseated just watching them.

Cave Train is about as crazy as I'd go.

Have you seen the nonsense in those Bumper Cars?!

Whiplash, no thanks.

Now, let me get back to my 'stories,' knitting, Tums, and my rocking chair and call it good.

Sweet!! My dad didn't do the rides, but my uncle used to take me to the fair just so he'd have a partner on all the crazy upside down rides. His girlfriend would hold our stuff while she waited at the bottom. Everyone needs that "other" - it's so fun that DQ's can be daddy!!

That is great! I used to love those rides! Now I have a sense of mortality and I'd rather live another day! LOL

What a fun Dad! Much better than a dancing Dad.

awww such a sweet bond! My Dad did a lot of rides with us as kids also.. loved getting him to go with us. So who is going to dance with her?

I love going on those type of rides with my son. Last year at the local fair, however, I forgot my dramamine. THANK GOD we were only minutes from home...I was green the rest of the night and had to go lie on the couch!

I love traditional roller coasters but all these rides that drop you and twist and turn you are not my thing.

Glad they have each other to ride with! : )

Uhh...I got dizzy just reading it. I can do the drops, but the spins, oh, yuck!

Glad she has a good ride companion.

I can't believe that I ever rode ANY of those crazy things...but I used to be addicted to them. Now I can't even get into the Ferris Wheel seat without double checking that something in my purse could be used as a barf bag in case of emergency. Queasy and Wimpy - - party of one!

The last picture of Hubs and DQ looks as though he may have had a backlash of funnel cake and a warm slushie....urp.

Excuse me while I throw up! from just looking at the pictures! My favorite ride is the bench. next to the funnel cake stand.

Oh my goodness! I'll do my cross-stitch next to you. Never was any good with knitting! I love your pictures, they make me miss CA even more! (But it was nice to see them and remember my own good times!)

Uh, no. I don't do heights. In my book, your daughter is a super adventurer / risk taker! LOL!

I'm dizzy just looking at the photo. My girl and Hubs are the coaster and drop'em ride fans. I like a good coaster ride, but can't handle the falling stuff.

    Love that last shot.

I've done the "Giant Drop" at Six Flags ONE time. Rides beat dresses and uncomfortable shoes any day!

I used to LOVE roller coaster but I am getting old and they often make me more nauseous than anything else. I still do like the big drop rides like your first picture!

I do love the Boardwalk... though I am such a chicken to go on any roller coasters - I can't stand the feeling of my stomach dropping. I'm hoping that my hubby will step up to the plate when my girls are old enough to go on the big rides.

Yikes!! I'd rather dance and make a fool of myself. I'll do roller coasters, etc., but don't put me on a twirling thing.

Dads are the bestest partners EVER for crazy rides. What great memories! My hubby is the same way which is a good thing because you won't see me get on a roller coaster unless I am unconscious! LOL!!

    What an awesome Daddy-o ")

Who needs adventure daddy's to dance? That might even ruin their adventure daddy image ")

OMG, this will totally be Sarah in a few years, with dh. I just know they will go on the craziest, most stomach-turning rides, while Stella and I opt for a visit to the ice cream cart instead ;-)

They look like they had fun! Tara's a daredevil, not me! I am always happy when someone else is along to ride with her, but many rides (at Disney at least) she will do herself. The daredevil gene apparently was paternal!
