A Tale of the Third Row
For the past 3 weeks, we've been living out of the car. With late night baseball practices and 2-3 games a week, we were never home.
Luckily we have a 7 seater vehicle.
Yes, there's only 5 of us, but everyone needs their space.
The tween won't sit next to the teen in the middle row.
That leaves the 6 year old with the whole 3rd row to herself.
And, believe me, no one wants to....nor is able to sit next to her.
This photo is after a bit of cleaning.
This photo may be a health code violation, so squint when you look at it.
I would have loved to endure burnt legs on hot summer leather seats over the uncleanable stained cloth seats.
Seriously, when we turn a corner, things jingle and jangle and thump in that third row.
My baby is like a homeless grocery cart pusher with a home and no cart.
All of her stuff is back there.
Plus a whole lot of other garbage she collects on the way.
She's messy, doesn't like to clean up...and I think there may be a science experiment growing out of an old milkshake cup back there.
She can't find her shoes, her sweatshirt is always damp, and there are enough fries back there to survive a natural disaster if need be.
Yeah. I'm raising Pigpen.
But, it's generally quiet back there.
The DVD player is on, she is happily munching on something or another, I'm sure there's one type of liquid drink back there for her that hasn't expired.
Car trips have been a breeze lately.
Good thing my teen has a compulsive cleaning habit, so the car will be sparkly in no time now that all-stars are over.
So does anyone know where we can rent a HazMat suit?

LOL this post is hilarious, I wish I had a teenager to come clean up my car. I have a toddler so my car is always a wreck. He loves to throw his snacks on the floor boards LOL.

"...there are enough fries back there to survive a natural disaster if need be."
That's the attitude :) Perfect.

Oh gosh, girl. I'd be having a panic attack. My kids leave one thing in the back and I need meds LOL!

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one whose car needs a bit of help. The difference is, my kids are grown and it's my mess in the car! Yikes!

Kids love messes and messes do not bother them at all. My kids are the same way.

I have a 4 year old and a baby...and a husband who keeps taking my car to go workout. So it's a disaster! Nice to know I'm not alone!

Ha! Those pictures look all to familiar. I remember the days before kids when our cars were clean and didn't smell like french fries! It's gonna be another 20 years or so before I get that experience again.

Our 3 and 5 yo get the back row...it's nasty back there. Despite me telling them not to, they put trash in little containers for me to find weeks later!

I know what it is like "living out of your car". There is only me and I still carry so much stuff. I don't want to be somewhere and not prepared. Thank God I don't have to really "live in" my car. Very grateful. You sound like you have a very busy and fulfilling life.

I don't have teens and it's sad to say my van sometimes looks like this i strive to clean it at least once a week so it doesn't get too bad

ha ha so funny. Even the most expensive Mercedes gets a few crumbs and shoes streaks on the back of the seats...

LOL, unfortunately, I am guilty of my van looking like this. My kids are ages 7, 4, and 2 and we have therapy for two of the three 3x a week and I have physical therapy twice a week...on top of specialists appointments, we never stop. I usually go to one of those independent car wash places so that no one is around so that I don't have to be embarrassed while cleaning it. lol. I also make them come along and help. After all, most of it IS their mess. :)
