When Being a Persistent Bi#@% Comes in Handy
Monday morning and I start calling the doctor's office at 8am. Dang machine.WHAT?! They don't open until 9am! Don't they know I have Google at my disposal and I know how to use it?
Time goes by SOOOO slowly as 9am approaches. I call, get through, and...
Receptionist--Doctor can see you Thursday.
Me--So, can you recommend another GYN so I can make that call?
Receptionist--Let me see if you can talk to the NP.
Me--Great!
This is where she gets on the phone and I spill my guts....she says hmm...sounds like an ultrasound (of the pelvic sort) is in order. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is HER first available...transfers me back to reception.
Receptionist--How's Wednesday at 9:45am?
Me--Um NP just said she could see me tomorrow, didn't she just talk to you?
Receptionist--*giggle* oh right. How's tomorrow at 3:30pm?
Me--Well if I don't end up in ER, that's fine.
Receptionist--Hold on. seconds later...We just got a cancellation, how's today at 1:45pm?
Me--How convenient, i'll be there at one.

why do they have to make it so hard on patients! Calling for a reason, your not just wanting to spend the afternoon at the doctors for kicks!
Hope you can get some answers and relief.
{{{{ hugs }}}}

You mean you wanted to be seen BEFORE you end up in the hospital. Oh, my mistake...
August 11, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Right on. I'd be the same way!!! Hope you get some relief soon girlie. =/
August 11, 2008 at 12:20 PM
It's a miracle... parting of the Red Tape... we should start calling you St. Jen.
August 11, 2008 at 1:09 PM
Hope you get some answers. And that you don't have to spread 'em for the doc. I hate the spread 'em. Once a year is bad enough. :)
August 11, 2008 at 1:16 PM
Way to work it! I hope everything is well - no bad news please!
August 11, 2008 at 1:17 PM
Call them again first thing in the morning in case there's been another 'cancellation'.
Heck, GO there first thing in the morning.
Tell them it's either this office or the ER.
August 11, 2008 at 1:18 PM
you don't happen to have kaiser, do you? LOL i hate that crap. hoping everything is fine. xo
August 11, 2008 at 1:20 PM
Uuuuuugh. THIS is exactly why I gave birth at home. I'll take the pain over the "you might have to give birth in the hall because we're so busy" BS! CRAP! I hope you feel beter soon. :(
August 11, 2008 at 1:26 PM
Thank goodness. I hope everything turns out okay. Navigating doctor's offices is one of my least favorite things to do, after poking myself directly in the eye with a corkscrew and before dental surgery.
August 11, 2008 at 1:29 PM
Hope all is well with you and I will file your lesson away in the space of my mind to call upon it when I am in that situation with a dr.'s office (which for some reason has been quite often lately)
August 11, 2008 at 1:49 PM
GOD. Why do they find it so amusing to be so difficult? Both of my primary care docs are wonderful-I love them-but their office staff? HELLACIOUS to deal with. Rude, snippy, short, argumentative...it's ridiculous that they're so obnoxious when YOU'RE the one who's in pain and paying them kajillions of dollars.
Thank God my OBGYN's office staff are absolute angels. And he is too. I heart him.

Sorry you're not feeling well. Good job getting your appointment asap, that was nice mojo there. Keep us posted. HUGS.
August 11, 2008 at 2:01 PM
I need you on my speed dial.
You are my official appoitment maker.
You. are. quite. the. persistent. one.
August 11, 2008 at 2:16 PM
Good luck to you - hope everything is okay.
August 11, 2008 at 2:18 PM
I hate being all up in your, youknowwhat.....but what was it?!?!?! You okay?
August 11, 2008 at 2:30 PM
That's always the worst -- getting the darn appointment. ugh
My scariest appt ever was an ultrasound to see if I had an ovarian cyst. Turned out to be sludge in the gall bladder. How embarassing is that?
August 11, 2008 at 2:41 PM
From now on, I am giving you my list of all the calls that I know will not resolve easily because you clearly have the magic touch! I also do hope all is OK.
August 11, 2008 at 3:35 PM
Good for you -- you're my appointment making hero!
August 11, 2008 at 3:51 PM
Way to show them who's boss!!
August 11, 2008 at 4:42 PM
We're both in CA and it's after 1, so you are OK! Love your survive song playing
August 11, 2008 at 5:11 PM
IT's like a really annoying dance they make you do...I am hoping for something simple and easily treatable...Good luck.
August 11, 2008 at 6:19 PM
Good for you! I am scared to be a b**** in those situations, but it is totally necessary.
August 11, 2008 at 9:46 PM
the nonsense of this is just insane... why oh why do we have to be so mean to be taken care of???
August 12, 2008 at 1:13 AM
It sounds like you have worked in a doctor's office before!?! That is the way to do it...throw that ER word around and it gets ya everytime!!
August 12, 2008 at 6:26 AM
Oh my gosh. That just made me sick to my stomach! I hate that! Hope you feel better soon!
August 12, 2008 at 7:04 AM
Sometimes you just have to put your foot down. I have found that's the only way to get things done. Especially when dealing with medical issues. No one wants to listen to you, they think you are a hypochondriac nut. It ticks me off.
August 12, 2008 at 8:10 AM
Good for you for being persistent! It just drives me batty that it takes forever to get things done. I hope it turned out ok...
August 12, 2008 at 4:56 PM
Hehe...how convenient of them! Honestly, what does it take to get some good customer service sometimes?!
August 18, 2008 at 8:38 AM
hahaha! that rocks! i love when that happens... not the "actually having to go" part, the getting what you want part :)
