Back to Basics
Dwight Schrute said it best in last week's The Office.Fa La La La Lah La La CA-CHING!
Everywhere I go people are buying huge stuff. Expensive stuff. Maxing the credit card stuff.
Every year it's "how can I outdo last year?"
Well, tonight I'm channeling my husband's frugality.
I always worried he'd rub that off on me, and tonight i'm singing his song!
The cold weather has been upon us and lately i've been complaining about my socks. I can't find the matches to my fuzzy warm socks. Oh the dryer ate them, ha ha...that or someone ate them because they're missing!
All I want for Christmas is socks.
And with that cold weather come cold nights. Even with a pile of heavy blankets I still get cold. Duh, i'm still wearing shorts and tees to bed.
All I want for Christmas is pajamas.
You don't want to know why i'm hanging onto the granny-pregnancy-panties....
All I want for Christmas is underwear.
Really, am I wearing a jacket at 9pm?
All I want for Christmas is a fuzzy, long, warm robe!
Maybe it's the economy. Maybe i'm getting old. Maybe I don't have the energy to keep up with the Joneses.
Mark my words, I'm saying it. Get me the basics!
Target brand, please.
But if you happen to see chocolate UGGs in a size 7...I won't turn those away. A girl needs rockin' kicks! kthxbai.

I'm with ya Jen. What I'd do for some Target undies, let me tell ya....
Uh...did I just write that in a public forum?

I think that the small everyday comforts are what makes most of us Mom's the happiest. I hope Santa brings you all of these.
December 19, 2008 at 5:05 AM
Funny, my own mom actually DOES want socks for Christmas. Battery-heated ones that I put off too long to buy and now? May not be able to find in the ice and snow that has coated my area.
Lovely daughter...
December 19, 2008 at 5:25 AM
Love it!!! I need all that too!
Love the small print. I actually just order chocolate uggs yesterday to treat myself for xmas... size 10 tho..damn big feet. I was an 8 before kid.
December 19, 2008 at 5:46 AM
I hear ya sister. I keep telling my husband, "Just stop, where ever you are in your list of shopping for me, just stop there." Then I go out & buy him 3 more things. He doesn't know if he's coming or going these days. ha!
December 19, 2008 at 5:50 AM
I like the simple toasty stuff, too!
And the Uggs...
December 19, 2008 at 6:02 AM
your list sounds a lot like my list...TY for the Bday wishes
December 19, 2008 at 6:28 AM
I'm with you on all that great stuff! Much of that stuff is what I wear all day some days!
December 19, 2008 at 6:45 AM
Nice list. The Uggs are warm, fuzzy, and remember - NO SOCKS.
But a nice robe is always welcomed:)
December 19, 2008 at 7:00 AM
Caleb and I were cracking up at Dwight's fa la la la la...
Hope you have a blessed and satisfying Christmas, with all the basics and then some.
December 19, 2008 at 7:00 AM
Target rocks! I miss it.
December 19, 2008 at 7:22 AM
My christmas list seems just as boring and old....baby stuff and underwear. Hot.
December 19, 2008 at 7:40 AM
I agree! I need some basics! DH doesn't get it!
December 19, 2008 at 7:52 AM
That's what I want too!! A soft fuzzy robe and some soft fuzzy socks. Will hubby get me either? NO He never buys me a Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary present. But I DID tell my son who I'm sure will aggravate hubby to no end. LOL We'll see what my kid can get done this year.
December 19, 2008 at 8:09 AM
I asked for all those things too!!
December 19, 2008 at 8:23 AM
Costco has Uggs right now in Chocolate for $129.99
The had a variety of colors.
I don't have the energy either.
December 19, 2008 at 8:42 AM
we do not care about the Jones's ever. But we too are going very scaled back this year. My wife and I are only doing stockings. I wish for nothing but love and peace in the world.
December 19, 2008 at 10:30 AM
LOL! Well I'm sure those people buying you gifts will appreciate your low cost requests! You are too funny!
December 19, 2008 at 10:58 AM
Socks, underwear and a robe are all on my list this year, too! And yes, Target works just fine for me...
December 19, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Don't hate me but I just tagged you!!
December 19, 2008 at 12:40 PM
I have been to Target 4 days this week; the most in my entire life; all about a pair of pants for my son's Chorus concert and toilet paper and pull ups for my daughter.
I did get my mom one of those nice cozy robes and only $10 bucks too!
December 19, 2008 at 1:31 PM
Target brand for me too, Please!!!!!
December 19, 2008 at 2:55 PM
My daughters shop at Victoria's Secret.
Me? I shop at Target. There's no money left. . .
December 19, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Seriously I only want the basics too. I got my chocolate Uggs last year, and they are keeping me toasty warm. Mmm a long comfy robe WOULD be nice
December 19, 2008 at 4:46 PM
I know, hubby and I are basically doing no gifts, and I'm totally ok with it (didn't think I would be!). Except I cheated a couple months ago and bought him some cozy pjs to give to me - and I'm dying to open them b/c I, too, and ALWAYS cold!!!
LOVE the Office and loved that episode. Dwight rocks :-) Hoarding all those barbies, hee hee!!!
December 19, 2008 at 5:13 PM
I really don't want anything for the holiday but for some reason the in laws feel the need to buy me stuff which in turn means I had to go out and buy them stuff to!
December 19, 2008 at 5:19 PM
First of all, love The Office. A friend was kind enough to mail us (hubby and me) Season 1,2,and 3. We found out last night there is a 4. The closest town 2 hours...we are so there on Sunday afternoon. Our big trip to the home/family will take 4 days...Season 4 will ease the pain. Then we have another season to catch up on....sweet!
Fun post....Target has the answers to most problems or needs. :D
Have a great weekend. I welcome you to stop by my blog and enter 2
gift-a-ways...."giftaways" are the new giveaways...like 40 is the new 30. :D

Dwight is like a beacon of light when it comes to quotes and quotables. I love that man!
Is there anything better than the UGG slippers? I have had them on my gift list forever. Unfortunately, I do not think the "big man" is listening. If neither of us receive what we want this year, I think it is high time we do some after Christmas shopping for ourselves. After all, what is more important than being cute and comfy this time of year? :)

I like to keep it simple for Christmas... nothing too fancy or expensive. I could never keep up if I did! Hopefully my daughter will understand this as she gets older.
December 20, 2008 at 5:15 PM
Sounds like Santa really needs to bring a space heater!
December 20, 2008 at 5:16 PM

I ask for jammies every year...I need some to open on christmas eve with everyone, right? Dh buys me size 3x (xl is just fine, thank you). lol...this year I told him the right size AND which ones I want! We'll see if he comes thru...
December 21, 2008 at 12:13 AM
We get jammies every year on Christmas eve!
I am SO with you on the basics...especially the ones you've chosen when it is so freakin cold out there a girls gotta have some warm stuff!
I'm afraid to even ask about the undies! LOL .... and I can bet Hubby would be more than happy to ablige.
December 21, 2008 at 6:25 AM
Oh, that's too funny! I've got those on my list, too...though we're not exchanging gifts this year (hubby and I - we're waiting until after the first of the year) but I am putting Santa gifts under the tree for he and I (so our daughter isn't sad that Santa forgot about us this year like he did last year), so maybe I'll just have to pick up those items myself from 'Santa'...(snicker!)
I love Target! And Ugg boots! ;)
December 21, 2008 at 10:28 AM
Amen. Long live Target. All I want is to see the smile on people's faces when I give them their gifts and for my boyfriend to cook me a nice dinner.
December 21, 2008 at 12:55 PM
I see it all around here too and wonder when real life is going to set in with these people. I love your wish list - all comfy stuff that will be used. I'll admit I'm a trash novel addict so I had to add some of those to my list, but I did add an inflatable bath pillow, candles (in-laws make soy and palm wax candles), a new mouse for my computer (this one squeaks too much) and hugs from everyone. :) the Ugg boots sound heavenly! Hope Santa brings you some!

I hear you gurl! I asked for some Playtex bras, "the ones in the box, make sure they're the ones that come in a box!"... because everyone know that all the sexy bras come from a box.
BTW- Dwight is a tool! I'm on team Andy ;)

Funny how our "necessities" change. :) Hey, it makes it easier for our loved ones!
The only debt we've gone into is for the Wii -- everything else was "cash on the barrel." And then we got a check from my mother in law that pretty much covers the Wii, so we're grateful! It's a smaller, but hopefully more joyful, Christmas.
