I Love Purple Pills

Visited the doctor this week.

Last time I saw him, I didn't care for him much.

He replaced my old doctor and I'm not so good with change and all.

He must have had a bad day that first meeting...plus he was probably all, "dude, who tears their contact and lets it stew in it's own bacteria and infect their eye for 12 hours?!"

Well. me.

So maybe it wasn't all him.

Anyway, this GERD bullscrap had hit a all-time SUCKFEST and I was happy to be squeezed in this week at the last moment.

*Point, doc.

So after ruling out gall stones, I had to get some liver follow-up done...just in case.

*Point, doc on being thorough.

Liver function is normal.

WOO HOO Vodka Cranberries when this is taken care of!

We chat some more about meds and such, what works, what doesn't, why insurance companies suck and don't pay for the meds that ACTUALLY WORK, yadda yadda.

We also discuss a "sample" i'll have to take to the lab to rule out an infection in my stomach.

*1/2 a point doc, thorough, but collecting the sample will be gnarly.

So we decide on trying Nexium for 2 weeks.

Bonus, he gives me a 2 week supply of the meds, free!

*Point, doc on free drugs!

Oh my gosh did I mention he's my new FAVORITE doctor?!

So day 3 and holy crap-how good does it feel to feel good!?

AMAZING.

I had almost forgotten what it felt like to feel normal.

Know what I mean?!

I'm knocking on wood, but i'm almost ready to ingest jalepenos whole!

SQUEE!

Oh did I mention I love my new doctor and it feels so good to feel good!

I do.

And it does!

So glad it's working out for you. Nexium was good for me, too, when I had stomach issues.

And, when my insurance wouldn't cover a med, I had the doctor write a note that nothing else worked, and it ended up on my "preferred" drug list.

Hope it works for ya! I had that bacteria test. But I thought all I did was blow into a bag after I drink some narly tasting stuff. It wasn't too bad. I did have some nasty tests done that I would NEVER do again but the bacteria one was ok...Good luck! Don't rush the jalepenos though!

When I was pregnant I was so sick I ulcerated my esophagus.... I know, not pretty.... my doc put me on Prilosec and I was in love..... those purple pills are the BOMB!!!

P.S. I know, don't diss the doc for putting me on them.... I couldn't keep any food down because of the ulcers...... and other reasons.... once I began taking it and letting my esophagus heal, I kept food down!

I was diagnosed with reflux(gerd)over a year ago now. I never experienced normal symptoms, but I did experience constant nausea and sometimes heart burn and I would burp all the time. A barium swallow proved what I had and my doctor prescribed Omeprazole which has worked wonders. I totally understand how you feel. I almost forgot now what I use to feel like, but it was the worst feeling in the world. I am glad your purple pills are working and you feel great.

I've been on Prilosec for 5 years... I know the freedom feeling you refer too... and every once in awhile my stupid-self lets me relive that feeling when I'm on the first day the Prilosec is working after forgetting to take it for two days... Oh yes. It is a joy only those of us with crap digestive tracts can understand. I'm over here Happy-Dancing for you!

YAAY! I totally understand where you're coming from! I take something everyday (and no, Tums would never cut it) and it was SOOO much worse when pregnant. It's sad when even toast gives you heartburn. I'm glad you found a good doc!!
