A Thousand Words Thursday
November 2003 On the backroads in our area, the driving age is..um..5. Hubby has loved to take the kids on a country cruise and then sit them in his lap to help him steer. Incidentally, I've never been in the car when this is happening. AND, my son was all of 2 years old here...who took the picture?

OMGosh, that's hilarious!
February 26, 2009 at 3:34 AM
What does is cost to ensure those drivers?????
February 26, 2009 at 3:38 AM
That is so cute...and exacly something my husband would do - minus the picture. She looks very focused on the road so you should have no worries - at least she's not on her cell :)

Oh I remember those days, I thought I was so cool when my mother would let me even hold the wheel and steer!
So adorable!
February 26, 2009 at 4:49 AM
I think my favorite part of the story/photo is that the 2 year old is the photographer!! Thanks for the lol at 6:30 am, Jen. :D

We did this as kids too! Your daughter looks like she's deep in concentration .. wish the drivers on the road were that focused too, lol.
February 26, 2009 at 5:09 AM
I used to do that with my dad!
February 26, 2009 at 5:19 AM
That's our driving age too! Aren't they so proud....and even prouder when they can reach the pedals!
February 26, 2009 at 5:19 AM
awww love it :-) I am with you.. I so would not be in the car either!
February 26, 2009 at 5:22 AM

February 26, 2009 at 5:33 AM
Awwwww, so cute! Who IS taking the picture? ;)
February 26, 2009 at 5:35 AM
TOO CUTE! That's how it goes down around here too! I've known how to drive almost forever..but on my 12th or 13th bday my grandad brought a car(he worked on cars) and I drove that thing up and down our driveway(LONG DRIVEWAY) and taught all my friends how to drive! LOL..good times!
February 26, 2009 at 5:56 AM
well, whoever took the pic chose a great angle! too cute.
February 26, 2009 at 6:06 AM
My dad used to do this with me and my borther in the fields behind our home, and it's some of the best memories I have! Incidently, I am now the worlds WORST driver...so....it in no way helped with THAT, but it was fun none the less.
February 26, 2009 at 6:07 AM
It's totally obvious there wasn't any law breaking going on there, I'm totally.
February 26, 2009 at 6:17 AM

February 26, 2009 at 6:29 AM
Wow...remind me to stay off the sidewalks today.

Ha, ha - that pic is cute!
February 26, 2009 at 6:39 AM
Good question--who took that picture! Pretty cute, though!
Thanks for inspiring me this morning to find a certain picture (by accident). It totally made my day!
February 26, 2009 at 6:58 AM
Uh-oh! Stay off the roads!
February 26, 2009 at 7:26 AM
I remember my dad letting me drive while I sat in his lap.
One of the BEST memories I have.
What a sweet smile she has. Makes me happy :->
February 26, 2009 at 7:34 AM
How very Brittnay of you!
February 26, 2009 at 7:52 AM
My first ever! =)

February 26, 2009 at 7:53 AM
That is awesome! I have the exact same shot (of Kyle). Good times. :)
February 26, 2009 at 7:59 AM
She looks like she is doing a great job!

My dad lets my boys drive his dune buggy or the golf cart when we are camping. Gotta teach them the law of the road sometime. Plus kids LOVE sterring wheels for some reason
February 26, 2009 at 8:10 AM
Good question! At first I thought maybe the car was parked, but that's not what the gauges say. I always begged my dad to let me drive when I was a kid and he never obliged. I don't think I'd let my kids do it, but I'm positive my husband would, just like yours.
February 26, 2009 at 8:47 AM
Yeehaw! Who is taking the photo? *snort*
February 26, 2009 at 9:20 AM

Hilarious! We live in the suburbs so that's not an option for us. My son would have a blast for sure!
February 26, 2009 at 11:49 AM
On the road again....I can't wait to get on the road again...
that popped into my head
She looks like a expert! Too funny!
February 26, 2009 at 12:21 PM
Looks like she's doing better than some of the "legal" drivers I've seen!
February 26, 2009 at 12:26 PM
That has trouble written all over it. You will be laying bed one night and all the sudden you hear the car drive away. Hmmm where might she have learned that skill? LOL
February 26, 2009 at 12:28 PM
I remember doing that with my Grandpa...Did he tell you how he got that picture?
February 26, 2009 at 12:32 PM
Cute picture! My boys have been "driving" since they were 2!
February 26, 2009 at 1:03 PM
My husband is guilty of this as well! Gives me a little heart failure!
February 26, 2009 at 3:20 PM
She looks all grown up! Scary huh?
February 26, 2009 at 3:57 PM
I'll fess up to the fact that it isn't just my husband that has done this in our household.
February 26, 2009 at 4:47 PM
Did I leave a message already? I thought I did but dont see it...ugh...one of those days.
Great pic! My hubby always lets the boys drive the tractors and lawnmower and it drives me nuts! Hope she is a safe driver!
February 26, 2009 at 4:52 PM
That is great. I used to do this with my aunt.
February 26, 2009 at 5:08 PM
scary, but so cute and fun! i know that chris will be doing this with bradley some day!
February 26, 2009 at 5:49 PM
whoops, I was afraid it was going to say "child steals car, news at 11"
February 27, 2009 at 9:18 PM
OMG! That is great.
