Out is the New In

I have a little crafty sign in my kitchen.

It's in the shape of a heart and inside are the words
MY FAVORITE RECIPE....EAT OUT.

It's true, i'm a sucker for eating out. I HEART it.

Not fast food, bleh. Restaurants. The kind where you sit, and rest.

And a nice girl or boy comes to your table and takes your order.

Then they bring you food, refills, more food. Sometimes dessert, and then the bill.

But best of all? Cooking and cleaning is done by others.

I may sound like a spoiled brat, but if the shoe fits, I'll wear it!

I have this love/hate relationship with cooking. My dad is a superb cook. My grandma, his mom, was also a great cook. I somehow wear the floaties in that gene pool.

I also don't have the gene to meticulously keep up my yard like he does either...but I digress.

See, I already hate talking about cooking that I changed the subject to landscaping.

The other day, burned my finger making potstickers. Apparently you're not supposed to stick your hand in the pan and manually flip the food without some sort of help.

I can screw up mac and cheese too. Really. Smooshie-noodle-mom, is what they call me.

They also call me a bunch of other things too.....

SEE?!? Another digression.

What was I talking about again?

Forget it. Hubby and I are going out to eat.

I like to cook but I do love to eat out...love the break. However, after dining out at a long standing, 5 star restaurant in my state last weekend, I'm not sure I'd be as excited about eating out in the near future. Posted about my run in with salmonella on my blog. But then again...no dishes to clean!

Yummm....ever since moving to the country, my choices to eat out are a mom and pop hamburger place, Subway or Sonic. I miss living in New Orleans with all the restaurants. Sigh.....

I love to eat out, too. But not because I can't cook, but because I cannot stand cleaning up the kitchen afterwards. I am so looking forward to when I can say "I made it, you clean it".

I love eating out, too, but because I hate cleaning up. I can cook great. But the mess...meh. I can't wait until I can say "I made it, you clean it" to my kids. It doesn't seem to work on my husband.

I want that sign!! LOL. Sign me up for eating out any day. If we could afford it, we'd do it a lot more. No cleaning up, not to mention shopping, preparing the meals, etc...leaves so much more time to play and have fun!

Ahhh! The joys of a sit down restaurant! If they only came with built-in babysitting!

I heart eating out too. Someone else cleans the floor!! WOO HOO!! Im sure though that the restaurant staff cringes when they see us enter with 4 kids aged 6 and under lol!

I love it. I have small kids so when I say I want to go to a restaurant I have to specifically say that I want someone to SERVE me. Nice post.

    I like eating at home...but then, I entertain customers, usually 3 meals/day.

    That can get tiring, really.

I like to cook when it turns out good and my husband cleans up. Otherwise you're right, eating out is da bomb.

I totally bombed dinner tonight. I made tortillas from scratch and let's just say they tasted like you were sucking on a salt shaker. Not good!

    I'm a huge cooking person. Baking---even better.

But I'm a big eating out person too.

There's something relaxing about having someone else wait on you. *Sigh* I'm so happy....

I love to eat out too.

It makes me happy. I can cook so-so, but given a choice, grab the kids and the keys... we're eating out tonight!

    Have a great week!

I love to cook, though not recently - and I'm not sure if it's because it's a much bigger hassle doing it here - or because I just have food aversions.

But eating out? LOVE it... especially when I can leave my kids at home and enjoy a meal w/o a meltdown! Is that so wrong?

I, too, am allergic to all things kitchen. Merely touching the spine of a cookbook leaves me hived. I wish my mother-in-law delivered. She's sensational when it comes to doing whatever I've never been able to pull off with pots and pans.

I enjoy cooking, but I like eating out better. The fact that we can all eat different things without me having to prep 4 different meals and dirtying up all pots in the kitchen makes my heart go all warm and gooey :-)

I love to cook when there is someone to really appreciate it (and do the dishes), but with me and the 12 year old, for the most part my talents are under appreciated, so we eat out way more often than we should... right now I'm dreading dinner, the kitchen is already a mess.

Going out to eat is great, but I have to admit that I have kind of enjoyed cooking lately too. It is definitely a whole lot cheaper!

In the exact same boat. I suck at cooking and hate doing it. LOVE LOVE LOVE eating out.

I'm SO with you. I really don't enjoy cooking at all. Unfortunately, one of the first cutbacks we made here in my house when I lost my big old fantastic job that allowed for eating out and a cleaning lady (I so miss her!) was less restaurant dining. So, now I have to cook more often. Damn economy! My favorite fridge magnet..."I can bring home the bacon but someone else is going to have to do the dishes". :) Love your blog!

We went out last night; it was wonderful. The restaurant was beautiful, the service was impeccable; they really made it clear that they appreciated us being there. The best part was that it was free ($100, on Grandma4444). Nice.
