The Story Behind A Thousand Words Thursday

Cheaper Than Therapy I love my computer's screensaver. It's random photos from all our picture files. Every 10 seconds or so a picture that could be up to 8 years old flashes onto the screen. We have nearly 8000 photos stored to date, so it's like a blast from the past when something like My Boy's first day of preschool appears, or a bloody shot of Hubby's face the day he crashed on his Quad. Unexpected reminiscing. Often we turn off the TV and all sit in front of the computer and watch our family's history through this photo show. It's cool when My Boy will say, "I don't remember that!" when he sees a picture of DQ at 18 months old. The whole concept of life existing before he was born is mind boggling to him. We ooh and ahh at all the funny, loving, sentimental shots. Sometimes we look with silence.

Every Thursday I am going to post a picture that is powerful, that expresses emotion, and speaks volumes to me. Here's one that is worth a thousand words.

We do the same thing with the screen saver as you! Isn't that fun when the kids just sit and wait for the next picture? I don't have near the libraray you do (or the quality for that matter), but I guess my kids are easily amused!

What a great shot. My mom does the same thing with the screensaver. I'll be talking to her on the phone and she'll be like, "oh, look, here's you and Julie and your baby shower," and then a few minutes later, "oup, remember that dinner on the terrace in Orvieto?" I finally have to be like, "Mom, turn OFF your screensaver!" :-)

Look forward to seeing more . . .

I have done this before and you are right, it is fun. My eldest daughter always wants to see our family digital picts and pushes her way to the front any time I am working on the picts. Maybe I will change my screen saver tonight...might be fub! Thanks for the inspiration!

I can't do that for a screensaver unless I want photos of the kids interspersed with Bathtub Gangsta. Haven't separated real life from blog life yet.:)

This is a great idea! I couldn't tell you what I had for dinner last night - but I can remember all the smells and tastes and times when all my old photos were taken. I recently took a trip to my fathers house which I hadn't been to in years and picked up some old photos that I hadn't seen in nearly a decade. It was a matter of seconds, and everything circumstantial behind those photos came right back to me. I totally get it :)
