In the Blink of an Eye

Visiting my kid's Open House at school last week hit me hard.

This is DQ's last year at the elementary school and it's quite unbelievable.

Her 5th grade classroom sits directly across from her Kindergarten classroom that I remember taking her for the first time.

I see the easels donning painted artwork and I felt tears fill my eyes that my oldest child has flown through grades K-5 in a blink of an eye.

Will she make friends? What happens if her one close friend was absent? Would she play alone at recess?

My once shy girl has grown into a little-less shy, confident, brilliant, beautiful, responsible pre-teen.

Of course, as parents we would love to take all the credit, but she is her own person, with a fabulous personality.

And, to be honest, being a dancer has really enhanced all those attributes in her.

This also helps...

Oh my goodness! I know what you mean! It goes so fast. I had a hard time sending my oldest daughter to middle school, but it turned out to be a fabulous experience. One more year, and she'll be off to high school. Now that's scary stuff!!

Seriously this post made me really miss teaching! I of course don't even want to think about how fast this is all going by so I will just focus on my missing teaching feelings, lol.

It sounds so scary. I'm afraid for my baby to move on to 1st grade. I know she can hold her own but it still makes me sqirmy.

That's the way I was feeling last year with my youngest. We were both a little apprehensive of what middle school was going to bring. He's sailed through 6th with flying colors. We can hardly believe the school year is soon ending.

Middle school... high school... oh my!

oh my - a sweet post for both your sweet little gals!

Grow up fast? You have no idea.
Our granddaughter graduates from high school next month. I haven't quite gotten over the high school graduation of her mommy, and she's an RN working in a large hospital now!

BTW, I am a retired elem. school teacher and I held coats and sweaters up in front of the student owners many times and they swore it wasn't theirs until the other kids decided it WAS!
I enjoyed my lengthy visit to your blog,

OK.. that made me cry lol

My kids will be finishing elementary school this upcoming year, and that was weighing pretty heavily on my mind lately. I can literally feel what you're feeling and my children aren't even there yet, but I'm already grieving. However, being military, we don't have an attachment to this school, since this is like the 3rd elementary school they've been to. But it's still going to be emotional. *sigh*

They are gorgeous! Holy honkin' trophies, by the way! Love the 'stache on your younger one lol
