I'm Sad and Glad for my Preschool Grad
How does this happen.I just had my youngest child.
I remember bringing her home from the hospital and my then 7 and 4 year old just doted on her every minute.
She was the chunkiest little thing and now she's a little woman.
A Preschool Graduate.
Going to Kindergarten.
In two short months.
In school all day.
Everyday.
I don't know if I should cheer or cry.
I'll do both.
Remember my K-Lish posts, her baby talk is slowly getting more and more articulate.
My last baby.
Is growing up.
Oh Christmas Cow...Oh Christmas Cow...
HOW.Is.It.December 23?No, really, because it was just my 37th birthday, February, we were on a wine tour in a limo.
I got my favorite toy in the world as a gift, my iPod Touch.
I blinked.
Now it's almost 2011.
I'm almost 38, and we have a MAJOR road trip planned on Christmas day.
You hear that??
It's the thumping of my heart.
As it races at about 150 beats per minute.
Clearly not normal.
At least we did get a Santa visit in.
She was invited into his lap, but looked at me with her "oh hells no" eyes and I said, she's in just the right spot.
10 minutes prior to this she was a star in her preschool Christmas play.
By, star I mean she was a cow.
But the CUTEST ONE that ever graced a manger.
See, told you!
No lines, just stood there, looking adorable.
My Boy was the InnKeeper in this very same play 6 years ago.

His one line about there being no room at the Inn was dazzling.
DQ was Mary. No lines, but the "lead" no less.

Good thing we're done having kids.
I'm not sure there's anything lower than a cow in the program.
Well maybe the hay beneath baby Jesus.
Though we moved down the acting ladder this year, it was definitely a darling production.
Now that the big day(s) are just hours away, I'm rushing about looking for those last minute presents, trying to find all those hiding spaces I stashed gifts, and hoping they don't get shaken and then guessed before opening.
Where's the surprise in that?
From my family to yours, we wish you the happiest of holidays, travel safe, and remember those diets can all start after New Year's!
Now I'm Craving Cookies.
Ah, next week is the beginning of 3-day-a-week Preschool....wait...I think I just heard angels singing.
Come on, give me a break, it's been a long summer with my 3rd strong-willed child.
She no longer takes no for an answer.
It's our fault, as the third and last of our brood, she's spoiled rotten.
Oh but she's so cute!
But, rotten comes back and bites us in the tush.
Anyway, tomorrow is her school orientation and we had this sweet little discussion in the car recently.
K--Mom, what's OREOtation?
Me--I think you mean orientation. It's where all the kids and parents come and meet the teachers and eachother before school starts.
K--But we already know the teachers.
Me--I know, but we may have new kids in the class this year, it's mostly for them. We just get to go and say hi to our old friends.
K--I can't wait.
Me--Me either!
K--So, will there be cookies?
Me--(giggle/smile to myself--the OREO part of oreo-tation remember?!)...
K--SO WILL THERE BE COOKIES? (YELLING)
Me--Um, I don't know honey. I hope so!
Yikes, I think the kid will throw a fit tomorrow if there's not.
Mommy will be buying double-stuffed, for sure.
See, spoiled.
My Daughter has Big Dreams!
It's the end of the preschool year for K this week.Thursday is her last day.
Today she came home with a memory book of quotes that the teachers so loving documented for the parents.
I've been hysterical laughing/crying for hours.
It's so dang cute.
Here are K's famous quotes:
---If you were a pilgrim child and could bring just one toy on the "Mayflower" which one would you choose? K's response, "the NORBALL (marble) game, it goes round and round."
---What gift would you give to baby Jesus (she goes to a church preschool...you're probably all "duh!") K's response, "A table and a toy car and a lollypop!"
---How many teeth do you have? K's response, "9." (not sure what happened to her other 11 that day.)
---Favorite food? K's response, "Corn out of a can." (we NEVER have this)
---What is your favorite book? K's response, "The Book about People." (so detailed)
---What is the best thing about Preschool? K's response, "Playing with the dollies."
---What kind of job do you want when you grow up? K's response, "Help people buy things at the store." (personal shopper? like at Bloomingdale's or more like a bagger at Safeway?)
---K says, "My family grows cakes in the garden and we're taking them to the fair." (this was after a classmate mentioned his family grows pumpkins for the fair, cake is way cooler)
---K's Cookie Pie Recipe
11 Cookies
11 Gingerbread Men
11 Strawberries
3 Treasure Pieces
Cook a lot at 356 and 11 degrees for 11 hours. If you eat it raw, it is okay 'cause it has powers to take away tummy aches. Put Sprinkles and CHEESE when done cooking. (Try at your own risk)
---A classmate was blowing out her birthday candle, K says, "I smell fire, but don't call the fire department, it's just her birfday."
Oh...there's more, from her classmates....oh so funny. I'll save it for next time.
Guess Who's Going to Preschool?
My youngest is heading to preschool Tuesday. The school her big sis attended. (first day, 2002)

The teachers there, beautiful, loving, motherly, grandmotherly, nurturing....I could go on and on.
I'm so completely thrilled for K as she begins this big chapter in her life.
Sure, I'll enjoy the time ALONE, but K will be having the time of her life and that just makes me so excited for her.
We went to orientation last week and she didn't want to leave.
I literally peeled her off the dollhouse and drug her to the car.
She wants to LIVE in that dollhouse in the preschool!
She painted, she played with PlayDough, she met knew friends.
It was the best day of her life.
Until tomorrow.....and then the next class....each one being better and better.
She's already making her friend list for her birthday party.
In February!
Yay for my big girl!!
