This Kid Cracks Me Up!
You know how I've always documented my youngest's cute words and sayings? If not, scroll through the posts labeled K-lish, it's her cute little language, err speech impediments, well...they're super cute.
Now that my girl is less than a month away from her 6th birthday she is still saying THE cutest stuff that puts a smile on my face.
**This morning, she was walking around with a puka shell necklace, you know the ones with the teeny shells, and was putting them up to her ear saying, "ooh, ooh, yep I can hear the ocean. It sounds little."
**Last night my husband was sacked out on the couch around 8pm per usual (he's a commuter now) and K says, "listen mom, dad's SNORTING!" Do you mean snoring honey? "oh yah that."
**When watching an upcoming movie trailer involving airplanes/war/bombing she says, "mom, is that about POOL HARPER?!" Who the what? "Where we went in Hawaii....pool harper, the sunken boat?" Ah Pearl Harbor.
**(on a related note) She watched the Ben Affleck movie Pearl Harbor over the holidays with my husband and asked questions incessantly about it!!
**She still says CAH-leats when talking about soccer shoes, which makes DQ laugh.
**Her favorite recent movie is the MUFFETS and wants a MUFFET birthday party. (Muppets)
**Her favorite song is currently "Forget You" by CeeLo but the Chicken version from the MUFFETS. Bok Bok Bok, bok bok, Bok Bok!
**Something new...well we finally came into the 21st century and bought a Wii for Xmas and well frankly our baby is a sore loser. She cries if no one lets her win. I think that's normal. Right?
Just to be clear, at this age My Boy had already been seeing the speech therapist at school, her teacher is not worried in the slightest.
Luckily K just has a cute way about her and is not at risk, in case you were wondering.
Kids Say the Darndest....
So we're in the car.I'm listening to my Pandora App and Garth Brooks is on.
I'm singing loudly to the live version of Friends in Low Places.
K from the back seat says, "mom?"
Yeah?
"Is that seenguh from Tennessee?"
WHAT?!
"Is that seenguh from TENNESSEE, can you heaw me?!"
(laughing) Yes, I heard you.
Why do you ask that question?
"He sounds like a farmer."
A farmer?!
Do you mean he sounds like he sings country music?
"Is Tennessee country music?"
Um, kinda.
"Yes."
(giggle) Where did you hear about Tennessee recently?
"Hannah Montana."
Ah.
Goofaloop.
Oh my youngest.Such a girly girl.
She doesn't go to a soccer practice without a dress or skort.

I have to talk her out of wearing her tutu, but that is her favorite!
It's just how she rolls.
Most of the time.
Sometimes she is just plain unique.
Like when she made her own shoes out of hair ties and wood blocks.

Genius or weird?
Silly Bandz made their way in our house, they've gotten stuck in the vacuum and have turned into rubber band weapons.
Even the cute Strawberry Shortcake ones.

Which are way cooler to wear as a mask.
Or as a scruncher when all the hair ties are on your feet.
Man vs. Tossed Underwear
After back-to-school night, my son was heart-set on heading to Ace Hardware. He'd seen a Swiss Army Knife there for a great deal, and with our upcoming camping trip, needed to have something to whittle with.
So it was a lovely 80 degree evening and we decided to walk the couple of blocks.
Now this walk has us walking past a neighborhood as well as an open field.
As you can imagine there is random stuff in the gutters, like a half-full box of Mike and Ike's that I had to pull my husband away from.
NO that's not free candy!
We walk a little further and my husband is picking something up. STOP!
Now no, we're not in the slums or anything, I mean, he wasn't reaching for a needle or crack pipe or anything, but still EW, don't pick up garbage.
"Cool, Croakies!" You know, those stretchy glasses straps that are made of wetsuit material.
Really? You NEED that?!
Even further down the street, I glance over and see a pair of men's underwear.
Men's underwear, tossed in a field behind my home.
Who? Why? What the?
How do you just lose your underwear?
This field is near a 4 lane road, I don't see anyone gettin' it on in these parts without looky-loos.
So Hubby cracks a joke about how next time he's going to bring his backpack to collect all these treasures.
Who are you?
Then suddenly he has a new idea for a reality show...like Bear Grylls in Man vs. Wild, but in town...
Urban Bum Survival.
(imagine this is my hub's worst australian accent) First you take you Croakies band and wrap it around the men's underwear, and tie it on your head in the midday heat. If you get hungry, Mike and Ikes will get you through until the McDonald's garbage cans are at capacity!
Sometimes I wonder about that man.
Sometimes.
Now I'm Craving Cookies.
Ah, next week is the beginning of 3-day-a-week Preschool....wait...I think I just heard angels singing.
Come on, give me a break, it's been a long summer with my 3rd strong-willed child.
She no longer takes no for an answer.
It's our fault, as the third and last of our brood, she's spoiled rotten.
Oh but she's so cute!
But, rotten comes back and bites us in the tush.
Anyway, tomorrow is her school orientation and we had this sweet little discussion in the car recently.
K--Mom, what's OREOtation?
Me--I think you mean orientation. It's where all the kids and parents come and meet the teachers and eachother before school starts.
K--But we already know the teachers.
Me--I know, but we may have new kids in the class this year, it's mostly for them. We just get to go and say hi to our old friends.
K--I can't wait.
Me--Me either!
K--So, will there be cookies?
Me--(giggle/smile to myself--the OREO part of oreo-tation remember?!)...
K--SO WILL THERE BE COOKIES? (YELLING)
Me--Um, I don't know honey. I hope so!
Yikes, I think the kid will throw a fit tomorrow if there's not.
Mommy will be buying double-stuffed, for sure.
See, spoiled.
Giggle Attack Caught on Video
Gotta watch this. This is what happens when we drive 8 hours in the car in 115 degree heat. It does stuff to you! That is so much better than crying in the car.
I bet that made you laugh!
My Daughter has Big Dreams!
It's the end of the preschool year for K this week.Thursday is her last day.
Today she came home with a memory book of quotes that the teachers so loving documented for the parents.
I've been hysterical laughing/crying for hours.
It's so dang cute.
Here are K's famous quotes:
---If you were a pilgrim child and could bring just one toy on the "Mayflower" which one would you choose? K's response, "the NORBALL (marble) game, it goes round and round."
---What gift would you give to baby Jesus (she goes to a church preschool...you're probably all "duh!") K's response, "A table and a toy car and a lollypop!"
---How many teeth do you have? K's response, "9." (not sure what happened to her other 11 that day.)
---Favorite food? K's response, "Corn out of a can." (we NEVER have this)
---What is your favorite book? K's response, "The Book about People." (so detailed)
---What is the best thing about Preschool? K's response, "Playing with the dollies."
---What kind of job do you want when you grow up? K's response, "Help people buy things at the store." (personal shopper? like at Bloomingdale's or more like a bagger at Safeway?)
---K says, "My family grows cakes in the garden and we're taking them to the fair." (this was after a classmate mentioned his family grows pumpkins for the fair, cake is way cooler)
---K's Cookie Pie Recipe
11 Cookies
11 Gingerbread Men
11 Strawberries
3 Treasure Pieces
Cook a lot at 356 and 11 degrees for 11 hours. If you eat it raw, it is okay 'cause it has powers to take away tummy aches. Put Sprinkles and CHEESE when done cooking. (Try at your own risk)
---A classmate was blowing out her birthday candle, K says, "I smell fire, but don't call the fire department, it's just her birfday."
Oh...there's more, from her classmates....oh so funny. I'll save it for next time.
Mother's Day Moon Walk
Happy Mother's Day!K woke me chattering a mile a minute.
"Mommy, let's count....ABCDEFG...." No honey, that's the alphabet, counting goes like this.. 12345678...
"Oh yeah like at dance. 5-6-7-8...."
Sorta.
She started drawing "muvver's day" pictures for me. "Mom, do you want a tail?" HUH?! "I'm going to put a tail on you." Alrighty then.
DQ woke with tween angst and turns out she has a gnarley sore throat.
My boy jumped into bed and asked what was for breakfast. That was hubby's cue.
A few minutes later, after finding a box of broken eggs (?!), the scent of bacon filled the house. Bacon in bed is the best.
No real plans for Mother's Day. My mom is in Cabo San Lucas with my dad and their friends for a week, so they are living la vida loca I'm sure. The couple's daughter called me yesterday to let me know they all arrived safely and were already mid-fiesta en la playa. I guess my parents had one too many cervezas and forgot my phone number!
As for a big day, my honey took me to my fave local restaurant last night. Yum dinner and wine, and we ran into some people we knew, today was just mostly chillaxin'.
After a nice lunch, we strolled over and checked out some local stores. We headed into a thrift shop and while looking at
Yes, I said MOON-WALKING. It's his thing lately. It's hilarious mostly because he can't really do it at all, but he thinks he can.
So, we're in this "antique" shop looking at DVDs and My Boy decides he wants to moon-walk in the shop. So he "does" and falls backwards right into a box of old hammers.
I cannot make this up.
I try not to laugh and this lady looks at me like I'm a horrible mother. I mean, he's okay, his wrist is a little sore, but generally, just embarassed. I'm only laughing at the fact that my son just got injured MOON-WALKING. It's a story to tell. Thank god for this blog so I can share it with the
It's been a great day, thanks to my whole family for loving me, cooking for me, and making me laugh!
Wedding Belle (A Thousand Wedding Bells Thursday)
Over winter break, we all had some nice down time. No school, no schedules, gorgeous weather, lovely. Some may say it was a good time for a wedding.
DQ took it upon herself to be the wedding photographer and overseeing the marriage of "Beary Mc Bearingson" and Miss K.
The happy couple were married in our backyard, near the swings.

Um...er...she's kissed her groom.

She has to carry him around, he's put on a little weight this winter.

HEY! Who's suggesting all this mackin'?

They are a very unconventional couple.

She's choking him, and smiling. Just like normal couples.

Here K learns that her dad may not be too happy about her marrying so young.

"That's okay," she says. She'll try again when she's "growed up!"

My Girl is a Silly Goose
I swear I need to carry a tape recorder to capture all the funny things K says on a daily basis.Just now she asked when she was going to a teenager.
We've been talking about how DQ will be 13 on 11/11/2011.
K thinks it's got to be something cool, but truly has no idea what we're talking about.
I answered, "in 9 LONG years honey."
"Ooh I can't wait!" she says.
??
I can, believe me.
Then trying to get her dressed left her long hair a mop and all over her face.
"K, please go get a scruncher for your hair."
5 minutes later...
"MOM! I can't find a scwunchuh!!! All I found is this KNIFE!"
It was a finger nail file.
Oh my girl, the sweet thing that wears her "Dorothy" costume to the baseball field.
She tells her new friend, "I'll be 5 at my next birfday."
"How many more days mom?"
"345 dear."
"Is that a long time?"
It will be here in a blink of an eye.
The 3-year-old's Christmas List
Despite all the giggling, I finally got DQ to print out K's dictated Xmas list. Here it goes in no particular order...
1. Barbies
2. Reindeer Dolly
3. Wand
4. Crown
5. Princess Dress
6.Wig (or Wick...either way, weird)
7. Guitar
8. Necklace
9. Cat Doll (or CatDog)
10. Cake
11. Ariel Book
12. SPACE SUIT (uh...yeah)
13. Darts
....
....and here's where it gets out of control...
14. Tigo
15. A Dot
16. A Bed
17. A Cage
18. A Dolly
19. A Band
20. K's
21. Peanut Butter Sammich
22. Kagoes
23. Clowlows
24. A Pony
...and many other things I'm pretty sure she made up.
But, if anyone knows where I can find a Kagoe or Clowlow, email me.
The Ghost Did It...
So I was most worried about nightmares after taking my family to see A Christmas Carol. It was a scary-ass movie for animation let me tell you.
Who knew comedian Jim Carrey would scare the crap out of me.
And, yes, K saw the movie.
But, we have been playing off the whole ghost thing to make her less scared.
"Ghosts are only in Canada" DQ tells her.
Yeah, K has no idea where that is or that she lives in the U.S....well at least can't tell you she does and comprehend it.
"Ghosts are just pretend" works a bit better.
But now Ghost is her go-to excuse.
You know when you read those cartoons and there's always a kid standing by a "ghost" kid that has NOT ME on it?!
Well, that ghost lives in our house now.
Everything that happens, K blames it on the ghost.
Or GHOSTIE as she's lovingly named it.
Recently I walked into the living room and it smelled of nail polish.
I immediately asked her what she was doing and she replied, "Ghostie painted the box" while hiding her pink polish-splashed hand.
Someone farted in the car the other day.
It wasn't me.
K was the only other person with me.
"Ghostie is stinkin' up the place!" she says.
So is it normal...just a phase...probably.
Associating a scary imaginary source with bad behavior takes the heat off of my poor girl who wants to keep her reputation clear of wrongdoing.
But, if I don't catch her right away, she'll tattle on herself, "mom! Ghostie is eating candy!"
So she's sorta honest-ish.
She'll grow out of it.
I hope.
Daddy a Forward for the Lakers!?
Oh my sweet K.She says the darndest things!
Over the weekend she and Yaya were walking by a basketball court and she excitedly tells her..
"Grandma, you know when my daddy grows up, he's going to be a basketball player!!"
Out of the mouths of babes.
Daddy is grown up.
His chance at the NBA is pretty slim.
The driveway hoop is far from the Staples Center.
So, K what do you want to be when you grow up?!
"I want to pick flowers when I grow up!"
Aha.
So she'll either be a hippie or a really cool landscape designer.
Hoping for the latter.
True Blue
Lori at A Cowboy’s Wife is once again hosting a Blue Ribbon Photography Contest.I'm a sucker for contests and love photography.
The contest theme was "Sapphire" or anything in the blue related family... so here is my entry:
The title of this picture, is "Ookit I Ung!" (you gotta say it with your tongue sticking out!)

Thank you to Airheads and my youngest daughter for some amazing photo opps!
Is He or Isn't He?!
Hubby has had some strange cravings lately.Pickles.
And beer.
At the same time.

Other times it's pickles and milk.
Lately, prunes are his go-to snack.
Tries to entice everyone by saying they taste like big raisins.
Ew.
I think he's pregnant.
The beer?!
It's so cheap, it's mostly water anyway.
A Thousand Words Thursday

November, 2006--CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?! Apparently K's friend thought the basketball game was a tad noisy, so she in turn, raised her voice.

K-Lish, Lesson 9
Lesson 1Lesson 2
Lesson 3
Lesson 4
Lesson 5
Lesson 6
Lesson 7
Lesson 8
If you haven't visited before, this is kinda like a dictionary of terms from my sweet 3.5-year-old. Yes, she may need speech therapy later, but now, it's all cute stuff. Catch up with the other lessons if you'd like!
SooMommy-The Tsunami-A super spinning ride at the Boardwalk that K claims she'll ride when she's "bidder."
Bidder-bigger-older, taller, much more mature.
Kebbul Cohn-kettle corn-The stuff that is stuck to the carpets in our car, and can still be found in our dryer.
Popfikuhs-potstickers-the yumminess we share at lunchtime, except I have to de-wanton them.
Pupcakes-cupcakes-especially with chalkalet frosting!
Tuhn Yer Hed-turn your head-I admit, each time K says, "WOOK mom, watch me" I often say, yeah uh-huh without looking. Now, I'm ordered to actually turn my head and watch.
Surpup-syrup-The girl needs a gallon for every small bite of waffle or pancake.
The Sun's Up!-the sun's up-wha she likes to shout at me while i'm still sleeping in the morning to let me know sleepy-time is over for her!
FuhLaytuh or TooLaytuh-for later...or later-When she realizes she really can't have something right at the moment, like a cookie in the car when there are none. She'll say, "okay mommy, we'll get a cookie fuhlaytuh (toolaytuh)." Um. Okay.
Cydal-recital-everything has been about dancing and the recital of late.
Venebbuh our home?!-remember our home?-K said this to me in Tahoe, since we stayed in a condo, she wanted to remind me we do have our house back home, and not to forget it.
Doughwa Buhgettyo's-Dora Spaghettio's-it has to be Dora style or else.
Queen of Something...Finally!
I don't want to toot my own horn...But, I kinda rock!
Seriously, I'm the queen of a daily household task that takes lots of skill.
And patience.
I'm like doing it 4, 5 times a day.
Just me and a rolled up newspaper.
Or magazine.
Or dish towel.
Sometimes I will clap my hands together and POW!
Okay that last one isn't true.
YET.
I'm so proud, I'm giving myself an award.
For what you ask?
Well, thanks to the kids, and all the open doors that lead outside, I am....
Queen Fly Swatter.

I know right?!
Prestigious!
I rarely even use an actual fly swatter.
*hold your applause, just throw money*
And, close the door behind you!

Baby Names
The name game.Remember that?
When you're pregnant you start envisioning the girl names and the boy names.
You practice writing your Christmas Card signature, "Love, The Mom, The Dad, DQ, My Boy, K, and....George..
Nope.
....and Lois..
Nah.
....and little Clementine..
No, this isn't 1950.
I became an aunt again this week. Hubs' brother and his wife.
A new nephew who is yet to be named.
His big sister was named after 3 days I believe. This little guy...well it's still early.
My kids have suggestions for their aunt and uncle.
EAST, Bob, Cam, Justin, North, South, BOY, Phineas, Ferb. You know, all the normal names.
Such an important thing...a name.
Hubby always told people we wanted to see what the baby looked like.
That wasn't true, we had our names picked ahead of time.
As soon as the baby was here, we found out the sex, he or she had their name.
It fit, no matter what.
Except for my brother and SIL. She had a name chosen. Until my dad mentioned, "REECE...like the Peanut Butter Cup?!?!"
Let's just say his name was changed soon after that.
Then you have the celebs...Josh Holloway just named his baby girl, JAVA. The Nake Chef, Jamie Oliver, his daughter is Petal Blossom, with sisters, Poppy and Daisy.
Makes Rumer and Tallulah sound like Jennifer and Michael.
What are your kids' names? If you have "unique" names, why?!
